Welcome to "Big John" a building that is referred to as work or home by
thousands and to some known as both work and home. Several million
venture to Chicago each year and make their way up to the building on
Michigan Ave. to snap a few pictures of it and over 500 hundred thousand
take the extremely quick elevator to the 94th floor observatory. However
many mistake the building as being just an office building and some are
so misinformed they are under the impression that the structure is
nothing more than a tourist attraction. There is more activity that
takes place in the building than many small cities, in fact the building
basically is a small vertical city combining residential, commercial,
and retail.2004 marks the 35th anniversary of the The John Hancock Center. It is one of the oldest and tallest skyscrapers in existence. There is only one building that is older that stands taller, the Empire State Building completed in 1931. However the John Hancock still after 35 years contains the highest residences in the world as most other skyscrapers are solely devoted to commercial and retail use. I'd like to show you around, both the building and the neighborhood and provide an insider perspective as to what it is like to live in the highest mixed use building in the world. So many, perhaps yourself, have stood at the base, taken photos and wondered what it was like up there? If you have asked yourself that question hopefully this resident will help to satisfy your curiosity. Enjoy Check back soon as this site at this point is very much a work in progress.
